Simulation

Are you struggling thinking of ways to train your new employees in the most appropriate and interesting way? Would you like your new employees to acquire skills that can only be taught with guidance in a realistic and immersive environment? Do you want to train your employees in a safe space that enables them to make mistakes that they cannot afford to make in the real world? Do you work in an industry (such as medicine or aviation) which culture has safety as a paramount focus (where mistakes can have catastrophic consequences)?

If the answer to any of these questions is “yes” then Simulation is the most appropriate training method for your needs.

Simulation is not just for those who dabble in advanced robotics or believe that the world is a Matrix-like simulation. While Simulation may appear to be a futuristic and strange way of delivering training, it is an established training technique that has been used since the 1980s to deliver quality training to employees in companies within the medicine, aviation, nuclear power and space travel industries. Simulation is used by many well-known companies today for learning and training, as well as evaluating performance.

Numerous studies have demonstrated that learners who use Simulation-based training do better on subsequent simulated tests and tasks. In a study carried out among trainee doctors, it was found that those who received Simulation-based training performed twice as well as those who did not receive it.

For those of us who are cost-conscious (and let’s face it, that’s most of us these days!) Simulation can significantly reduce the cost of training as it means that there is less need for in-person training and all the associated costs this can entail (such as paying for the trainer’s travel and hotel costs).
